The PGA Championship is Here in Atlanta & at The Oaks!

Good morning from The Oaks Course!!

Can you feel that?? The tense competition in the air??   If you can't then you are just missing out! What a great day for golf?!  Georgia is ranked number 8 on the list by Golf magazine for states to play amazing golf and to be honest - we should be number 1.  Let's be honest here - we have the prestigious Masters Tournament about an hour east from The Oaks in Augusta and this year we are honored to host the PGA Championship in Atlanta which is right around the 285 bend from us! Who could ask for a better golfing state??
This week for my blog post - I am going to touch on the tournaments and The PGA Championship!

We here at The Oaks Course are extremely lucky to have such the opportunity to host tournaments of our own with conditions like the PGA Championship or better.  Our Oaks Invitational will be fast and firm for the players and we can't wait for the big event!  With a field that is going to be full of excitement and competition for any handicap golfer - The Oaks Course is preparing THE BIG TOURNAMENT!  Don't miss out on a pair of Adidas Golf Shoes with your entry and the chance to win a Bridgestone Staff Bag, Scotty Cameron Putters and a custom pro tour pair of Adidas Golf Shoes!  Who wouldn't want to come play and win?!  The Invitational is the time to show us what you got because The Oaks Course is laying it all out on the table!

We wouldn't be able to throw out a smashing tournament if it wasn't for the men who work so diligently at The Oaks Course day after day.  The Turf Care staff at The Oaks Course is one to be proud of and deserve a special thank you daily for their extremely hard work.  The Oaks Course is fortunate to have such a dedicated staff with even more dedicated leaders guiding them to make our course stand out.  Both of our incredible leaders have been highlighted this week - not just by us but by both of our local newspapers.

The first is Mr. Ron Riley - Ron is a long time employee with The Oaks Course who is currently battling kidney failure and fighting for his chance to receive a new kidney.  Ron is the Equipment Technician here at The Oaks Course and has never wavered from his duties.  Ron one of the beneficiaries of The Oaks Invitational; the other beneficiary is The Kidney Foundation.  The tournament is not only big because of the prizes & winnings, but it is a big event for The Oaks and close to home to help one of our own.
Here is the link for the article about Ron - check it out and come play!

The second highlighted employee this week is Mr. Curtis Singleton - Curtis is our Head Superintendent here at The Oaks.   Curtis is someone who is always thinking about the next move to make The Oaks a better place.  With a nickname of "Fancy" (per your author of this blog), he is one who is innovative, creative and crafty within in his profession.  Curtis has the gift of making the course challenging, but at the same time relaxing for a leisurely golfer.  Curtis has been recognized this week for volunteering his time at The PGA Championship on the grounds crew.  Check out his article here !
This is a week of champions not only at The PGA, but at The Oaks Course too.  Our Champions aren't necessarily shooting 62 daily or have big sponsors such as Nike, but they are guys who enjoy the game and giving the best experience out on the course.

So, while watching the PGA Championship this week - take a look at the landscape - notice how clean & precise every inch of the course is & remember there is an Equipment Technician & a Superintendent to thank.

Come visit The Oaks Course - our greens are fabulous!  Check our website for specials & deals today!

PS - Who are you rooting for this week in the PGA??
My personal favorites - Phil Mickelson, Matteo Manassero, Graeam McDowell.

Have a great weekend!!
